What to Do If USB Debugging Enabled But Detection Still Failed?

The Coolmuster software (Android Assistant, Android Eraser, Lab.Fone for Android, Android SMS + Contacts Recovery, Mobile Transfer or Android Backup Manager) offers 2 connection ways: Wi-Fi connection and USB connection. When connecting your Android device to a computer with a USB cable, you are required to enable USB debugging on your Android device to make the connection successful.

When connecting, if you have enabled USB debugging on your device but the connection still failed, follow this article to troubleshoot the problem.

Part 1: Possible Reasons Why USB Debugging Enabled but Connection Failed

If you have turned on the USB debugging on your Android phone but the Coolmuster software still stays on the prompt to enable USB debugging, this may because:

a) Need to select the USB connection mode on your phone. (See Solution 1 >>)

b) Didn't set up the USB configuration. (See Solution 2 >>)

c) Didn't install the driver on PC properly. (See Solution 3 >>)

Part 2. Corresponding Solutions to Fix Connection Failure with USB Debugging Enabled

Solution 1: Select the USB Connection Mode

After connecting to the computer via a USB cable, some Android phones like HUAWEI need to set up the USB mode to make them detected by the software although the USB debugging is on.

Step 1: Scroll down your phone screen and tap the notification "Charging via USB" for more options. The details of the options will be different according to Android models. If you do not see this notification, reconnect your device to PC.

Step 2: A prompt shows up, select "Transfer files" or "Transfer photos" smoothly and look at the interface of the Coolmuster software once you tap on a mode. The software will respond to your selection and will move on to the next connection page if the mode works, try the next solution if both modes don't work.

Solution 2: Set Up Default USB Configuration

If the connection still failed, try to select the USB configuration via the "Settings" app on your Android phone. This method applies to Android 6.0 or above and the detailed steps may slightly differ from different phone models.

Step 1: Open the "Settings" app > "Additional settings" (if any) > "Developer options".

Step 2: Scroll down to find "Select USB Configuration"/"Default USB configuration".

Step 3: Select either "RNDIS(USB Ethernet)", "Audio Source", or "MIDI" to have a try.

 

Solution 3: Reinstall the Driver on Your PC

Still can't get the phone detected? Follow the steps below to reinstall the driver "Android Composite ADB Interface" on PC.

Step 1: Firstly, uninstall the ADB driver on your PC.

(1) Connect your Android device to computer with the USB debugging enabled.

(2) Right-click "This PC" and select "Manager" on the pop-up menu. This will open the "Computer Management" window.

(3) On the left side of the window, click "System Tools" and select "Device Manager".

(4) Now look at the right side of the window and click "Android Phone", then right-click "Android Composite ADB Interface" and select "Uninstall device" (Make sure to check the box for "Delete the driver software for this device"). Once done, disconnect your Android device with the PC.

Step 2: Reinstall the driver by connecting your device to PC again.

Now, open the Coolmuster software on your computer first, and then connect your device to the computer again, the driver will be reinstalled on your PC. After this, follow the on-screen steps to get your device detected by the software.
